Ward 103

Ward 103 is utilized as a “hospital within a hospital.” It is where our physically ill patients are transferred to when they become very sick. They receive IV therapy and other treatments not offered on the standard ward.

A lady who worked as a CNA at Broughton Hospital back in the olden days, but who has now retired, told me the following.

She said, that one night, while up on Ward 103, she was sitting at the nursing station doing some paper work, when she saw what appeared to be a nurse with cap pass by the window in front of her. She got up and looked to see who it was. She saw a nurse wearing what appeared to be the long dress uniform that the nurses wore in the 1900’s.

As she watched, the nurse turned the corner and went on down the hall, then went into a room on the right, turning on the light as she entered. The staff member told me she was totally blown away by what she had just seen, but knew she had to investigate. She went down the hall and peeped around the corner of the bedroom door, holding her breath in fear. Luckily for her, there was nothing in the room except an empty bed. She wasted no time, in case the lady came back; she turned off the light and went back down the hall to the safety of her office. Nobody witnessed this event but her, but its memory haunts her.

Just recently, an increase in psychic activity has been witnessed on Ward 103. The CNAs reported that while they were in a particular room, a glove would just shoot straight out of the box of gloves in the rack on the wall. Not fall out, mind you, but shoot straight out like something or someone grabbed a glove and jerked it out. The glove would then fall to the floor.

One night, three different CNAs went into the same room at different times, and each one witnessed this event. The last CNA had gotten the patient up out of the bed and into the wheelchair when this happened. She came flying out of the room with the patient, so fast, that she even forgot the tabs monitor (chair alarm to prevent patients from falling). When staff asked her why she was in such a hurry, she told them that another glove flew out of the glove box. But to make matters worse, as she turned with the patient and started to leave, something grabbed the back of her scrub top and tried to pull her backwards into the room. That was the reason why she left in such a hurry!

After that, nothing else happened in that room up until they had a patient who was deathly ill, but was hanging on to life day after day. During the days that patient clung to life, the word got back to me that several people had seen an “entity” going down the hall.
